Learning happens in many ways and comes in many forms – so do the tools that help us with that learning. Cash and I tried out something new to step up our auditory learning – Avid Products, Inc.
Using Headsets and Headphones is common in most homeschools. Whether it’s logging in for a virtual class or focusing on an interesting audiobook, having quality audio equipment is essential. But we can’t forget, these are kids – the same kids that lose anything not tied down and without a thought kicks everything under the bed. Avid has considered that! This small, American company makes their Headsets and Headphones with kids in mind. Their products are durable and very economical for any family. If they misplace their Avid product, you won’t have to go through a financial hardship to get another and you can afford to have a backup. They definitely had families in mind with the pricing.
AVID, which stands for Audio Visual Instructional Device, creates audio solutions for an number of industries including education. Their commitment to sustainability is proven through their free product recycling program in collaboration with Done With It. Impacting mankind on multiple levels, these American made products are award winning and models have built in safety features for limiting decibels in order to preserve auditory health.

How we used our Avid Headsets
Cash and I received their models AE-36 with mic and USB-C connector and AE-55 with mic and USB-2.0 connector Headsets. Both products came equipped with flexible microphones but very different inputs . I chose a headset with a USB-C connector for easy compatibility with our home Macintosh computer and the USB for windows based computers or for use with a Mac USB adapter. This was not our first Avid Headset. Cash had previously received a AE-36 Headset as a member of the audiobook company Pinna’s kid ambassador team, which comes with a standard 3.5mm audio input. He loves that headset, which is standard use in many educational settings but this gave us a chance to diversify inputs and upgrade. These models have bi directional noise canceling (perfect for travel or class) and gives Cash a chance to use a Bigger Kid style headset that can be used for eSports or Gaming. I expect both of his older brothers to try and sneak away with his headsets.

Why we need our Avid Headsets
My home is small and intimate. And Daddy and the pets are loud. Using the built in mic on either the tablets or computers is not an option if Cash wants to focus and if the folks on the opposite end of the transmission want to hear him. We also spend a lot of time learning outside of our home – I need him to have quality products that can combat road noise, airplane engines, or even just neighborhood playground din. Avid Products do a great job with all of those. Cash can hear his classes and the other students and instructors can hear him. Spanish class on the go is clear and chats with homeschool friends are kept between them while I watch the news. That alone makes Avid invaluable to my family.
