Explore Generosity with the Generous Students Homeschool Curriculum Kit!
How do you teach Generosity and Kindness?
We are always homeschooling the typical academic subjects, and you can find vendors galore for Math, ELA, and Science – but what about resources for Social Emotional Learning? Are you missing the Biblical focus in your homeschool?
Cash and I got to explore the Generous Students Homeschool Curriculum Kit and the 7 Ways of Living Generously Road Trip. No, we didn’t have to go anywhere (though this does make a good Roadschooling kit) but so far our journey has been definitely worth it. Let’s jump right in:

What’s in the Generous Students Homeschool Curriculum Kit?

How are we using the Generous Kids Homeschool Curriculum ?
An important part of homeschooling a Gifted Learner is making sure we address SEL. My child speeds through academics at this point in our homeschool journey and the most impactful courses for him are often based in mindfulness, values, and life skills. I love that the focus of this study is generosity and kindness, teaching children that the world is bigger than just them and that we all can benefit from empathy and being more Christ-like.
Our first week’s lesson was a look at the life of a veteran that had fallen on hard times. My child immediately connected with the story since we are a military family and could see that veteran as any one of the people he knew personally that served or are still serving. It was a beautiful story, told via narrative video, that shows that it just takes one person to care to make a difference.
You’re encouraged as the instructor to use these lessons as they are or as stand-alone lessons and to engage in meaningful discussion. Every passage is heavily cited and each lesson gives you extensive and diverse reading suggestions in the “Library Stop”. In week 1’s Library Stop, I was pleased to see that 2 of the suggested books were already in my personal collection (“Thank You, Omu!” By Oge Mora and “Otter B Thankful” by Pamela Kennedy and Anne Kennedy Brady). This is an all ages curriculum and your kids will benefit from it at any stage of their lives but you will see resources noted specifically for younger and older students if you have trouble scaling lessons for age.
The entire curriculum is themed around taking a Road Trip. You’re their Driving Instructor and your students are the Drivers. “Getting Into Gear” are points to ponder before starting the lesson, “Get Rolling” starts the lesson, “Rest Stops” give time for reflection and a Biblical connection. There is also “Map it Out” , “Fuel Up”, “Extra Stops”, and “Library Stop” included each week along with the week’s “Generosity Hero” introduced on Day 3. During the 26 Weeks, you’ll be covering Generous Thoughts, Words, Money, Time, Influence, Attention, and Belongings.
My child loves this curriculum. Its sparked some deep, insightful discussions and he’s already started to make his own plans on how best to serve and be more generous. If we don’t get anything else from the curriculum this year just igniting this desire in him is priceless.
The Creators of “I Like Giving” and the Generous Family Team have created an needful curriculum in the Generous Students Homeschool Curriculum Kit. It was easy to implement and teaches a skill everyone can use – how to be a better person.
