Let Mr. D Math Help with Online Classes

Disclaimer: I was compensated for my time in exchange for my honest review.

As homeschool parents we’re pretty comfortable teaching most elementary school subjects but as our kids get older (or their skills get better) we start to get a little uneasy when it comes to middle and high school subject matter. Especially when it comes to math. It’s not that we CAN’T do it, it’s just that we don’t WANT to do it… It sounds to me like you need Mr. D Math .

As a parent in this very situation, let me walk you through what I love about this self-paced, online class with homeschoolers in mind.

We tried out Mr. D Math’s Preparing for Pre-Algebra course with an open mind and a hopeful heart. I had never personally taken a “preparing” for Pre-Algebra class so I didn’t know what to expect and Cash was all for it simply because it was math. With no expectations before hand, I logged us into the account and hit play on the first video we saw under “Getting Started”. Mr. D walks you through everything, from accessing classes to grading work and even showing you how to retake a quiz if you need additional time to study the lesson again. Everything you need is right in front of you – the printable course work, videos, and even a handy contact box to correspond back and forth with teachers about anything you need help with. Still need more help? You’ll find links right in your student dashboard for additional live help sessions. For the Preparing for Pre-Algebra Course, there were 3, one hour long sessions offered each week.

I felt my anxiety lower a little bit just with that.

So What Exactly is “Preparing for Pre-Algebra”?

Some genius, (in this case, it’s the founder of Mr. D Math, Dennis DiNoia) recognized that most kids lacked the number sense and practical skills needed to begin algebra.  After extensive drills in multistep multiplication and long division, it’s hard to go back to basics to get a good understanding of the algebraic process and why we need to use it.  This is the class that helps you get there. If you have a 4 – 6th grader looking to start higher level, middle school math, this is the class for them.

The course is broken down into the 4 most common operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division – from the very beginning. Order of Operations is covered in detail and by Chapter 9 of the course, you’ll finish up with Percentages and Money. Mr. D Math is meant to be an independent study – your kids can grade themselves, use their course notes for testing, and are encouraged to have a Growth Mindset throughout the learning process. If you follow the suggested pacing for the course it should take approximately 34 weeks.

What other Online Classes does Mr. D Math offer?

I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t tell you about the other classes offered by Mr. D, especially since I’m considering signing my kid up for more. He’s flying through Preparing for Pre-Algebra and I need to plan ahead.  You can find both Live and Self-paced courses in:

Cash has also taken the ASL I self-paced course and we still use the ASL as a secret language between the two of us to this day.  He took that class when he was 6.  Don’t worry about age so much with these courses.  Mr. D is all about ability.  If you think that your child is ready for a class, they probably are.

So are you calm now?  Chakras aligned?  Are you finally feeling ready for those classes that your kids are ready for but you aren’t ready to teach?  Then head to Mr. D Math and sign up for your own piece of mind:
